Fall fun

Last weekend, the girls were on fall break from school, and so we decided to cram as much fall fun into that weekend as possible. We started off a bit early on the Monday before, when I took the girls to the corn maze after school. It was so cold and windy... We were just about the only ones crazy enough to brave the FREEZING cold wind...But the upside is...

You get the giant bouncing pillows all to yourself...(I really want one of these in our backyard...so fun!)You get the cow train ride all to yourself....

..when you ask the farmer to go really fast over the bumpy parts of the hay ride, he will, 'cause you have it all to yourself... And you get the corn maze (almost) all to yourself. The girls decided to do the harder phase two of the corn maze, and they were great and cheerful. they took turns who got to lead, and we had a blast singing loud along with the music that was playing (hey, we were all alone!) and being totally lost. It was also a good exercise for me to not take control (but so very difficult). Here we are lost in David Archuleta's microphone (we think)...Which way should we go now?

We made it out!!!!

Friday, it was off to Gardner's village to see the witches and watch mom window shop.

The girls did a witch scavenger hunt and got their hair sprayed with color,And danced like nothing else was going on!

They found all the witches on the list and enjoyed the rewards (and shared some with daddy, too)I love this picture...

Then, on Sat. we went to the dinosaur museum and they had a bat cave event going on. We got to go into the "cave" and see the inventions Alfred had made (although I am pretty sure he didn't make the dinosaur fossils he was showing us...) and get our faces painted and go for a scavenger hunt through the museum.

This is the last picture of the brown hat. We lost it a few hours after this at the scarecrow festival. We checked the lost and found that day and the last day of the festival, but no one turned it in. I hope whoever has it enjoys it, because it was my very favorite accessory on my little one :(

Then we went to the scarecrow festival (R.I.P. cute brown hat) where the girls had massive amounts of fun on all the blow up slide toys. We even made it through the "haunted house"!

On Monday, the girls and I went to "barnyard boo" where they played games, decorated cookies, made crafts and... Got their faces painted!!!

What a weekend it was! We sure had a blast. But I was glad when school stared again on Tuesday :)

Whew! an update..

I finally finished the 11 dance costumes I've been working on. I was gonna take a picture, but it was down to the wire, deadline wise, and didn't get a chance. They were sparkly, and puffy, and bright and fringe-y and overwhelming. But they are done, and I hope it will be a while before there is any black tulle or fringe at my house. :)
I enjoyed a mini "staycation" with my family this weekend, and hope to get the pictures uploaded in the next two or three days. We've been having a blast!
Tomorrow will be the last day of festivities, and on the agenda: Re-tracing our steps and visiting the lost and founds of the places we've been to get all the stuff we left behind back.

And telling the kids the story of Hansel and Gretel....

All work and no play...

Makes me dull and cranky. I need a vacation, but am going to work on the world's gaudiest dance costumes instead... and read traveler's magazine.
