clarification

Due to some feedback I have received on my last post, I feel I need to make some clarifications.

My children are not political geniuses. One chose Obama because he was "handsomer" and the other chose McCain because Barack sounds like broccoli, and, "who wants a broccoli man for president?"

Also, it took much less time to recover from McCain's loss than it did for her to recover when David Archuleta lost on American Idol...

This morning at Some Girl's house...

Was quite interesting. We involved the girls as much as possible in this year's political race. They watched the debates (and SNL clips on the news...my 4 year old saw a pic of Sarah Palin this morning and said, "that is the funny one, right, Mom?") and heard my Husband and I discussing the issues. Sometimes they would even weigh in with their thoughts. We encouraged them to decide who they would vote for, without us telling them which candidates would be our choices. (the idea was that they would learn to make their own informed decisions when voting) I took them with me when I voted (early). I even taught them about secret ballots...we probably should have done that at our house, too.

I felt like we were being all star parents.

Then, one chose McCain, and one chose Obama.






My role this morning: Diplomat.

Happy Halloween

This year's Halloween Costumes.... A "scary but kind of beautiful"vampire...

and Word Girl. A superhero who foils the evil villains with her...VOCABULARY! (I did not make this person up. Check here if you don't believe me)

I felt so cool when some random kid shouted, "Look, Mom, There's Word Girl!"as we walked by. (I made both the girl's costumes)*together at the costume party*

Hello From Idaho

Greetings from Idaho! We are enjoying a fabulous weekend with family and our new nephew. I will post pics soon, but not until little Kota goes to sleep! I'm off to get more cuddles!

Fall fun

Last weekend, the girls were on fall break from school, and so we decided to cram as much fall fun into that weekend as possible. We started off a bit early on the Monday before, when I took the girls to the corn maze after school. It was so cold and windy... We were just about the only ones crazy enough to brave the FREEZING cold wind...But the upside is...

You get the giant bouncing pillows all to yourself...(I really want one of these in our backyard...so fun!)You get the cow train ride all to yourself....

..when you ask the farmer to go really fast over the bumpy parts of the hay ride, he will, 'cause you have it all to yourself... And you get the corn maze (almost) all to yourself. The girls decided to do the harder phase two of the corn maze, and they were great and cheerful. they took turns who got to lead, and we had a blast singing loud along with the music that was playing (hey, we were all alone!) and being totally lost. It was also a good exercise for me to not take control (but so very difficult). Here we are lost in David Archuleta's microphone (we think)...Which way should we go now?

We made it out!!!!

Friday, it was off to Gardner's village to see the witches and watch mom window shop.

The girls did a witch scavenger hunt and got their hair sprayed with color,And danced like nothing else was going on!
